Using books in clinical practice

Authors

John T. Pardeck

Abstract

This paper illustrates how fiction and non-fiction books can be used as effective clinical tools. Included are research findings on the effectiveness of books in treatment as well as titles of books recommended for social intervention. The paper stresses the strengths and limitations of books in treatment. It is emphasized that books should only be used as an adjunct to the treatment process and not as the sole treatment approach. © 1991 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
