Abstract

There is no doubt technical communicators are looking for efficient ways to produce and manage large amounts of information. One way of doing this is through single sourcing. Though some technical communicators attempt to provide information about single sourcing, the research is often inadequate since it fails to communicate the concept on a granular level. The primary aim of this paper is to provide an understanding of what it means to single source and to specifically demonstrate how single sourcing is used to develop a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) online help system that supports several products, specifically personal computers. My intention is to contribute a framework by which technical communicators can develop their own single-source method.
