Abstract

This document is a handbook for graduate students at SMSU. It is designed to be a quick-reference resource to give graduate students the information they need to make the most out of their time at SMSU. The handbook uses a friendly, non-technical style to help students make sense of complicated information like registration polices, degree requirements, and the sanction and appeals process. The handbook consolidates information gathered from interviews with faculty and staff, policies, procedures, web sites, brochures, handbooks, guides, and manuals, all into one document. The handbook also includes unique features like checklists, tips, resource lists, and little-known information. Although originally designed to be used as a paper document, this handbook could also be useful as a Web document. Because this thesis is a creative work, aspects of it (line spacing, page number and headers, etc.) do not conform to the standard thesis format.
