Abstract
This thesis is a documentation of the design process and the technical considerations involved in the execution of the scenic and lighting elements for Southwest Missouri State University Theatre's production of Dragons, Dreams and Magic Beans. A discussion of the philosophy behind designing for children's theatre is included, as well as an examination of the limitations imposed by a touring production. An evaluation of the visual interpretation of the script in conjunction with directorial concept is augmented by the inclusion of production photos, lighting paperwork and technical drawings.
