Abstract

The researcher has offered recommendations for the Missouri State Department of Education and for local school districts concerning ways to provide educational opportunities for gifted students. A review of types of programs is included, along with evaluations of strengths and weaknesses of each prospective program option. The researcher indicated ways various gifted educational models could be incorporated by rural districts to meet the needs of gifted students. Information was provided to help educators determine which program options will be most applicable for the needs of their particular district.
