Title
The Elementary School Counselor: A Role Definition
Abstract
The elementary school years are crucial to a child's total social and emotional development. In order to facilitate the child's total development during the elementary school years, he or she must have ready access to an elementary school counselor. Elementary school children who feel comfortable with and have been in contact with a school counselor will probably not hesitate to use the services of the counselor later in their school years. It is for this reason that elementary counselors must carefully examine their unique role and functions within the framework of the elementary school. This paper presents such an analysis. © 1989, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
