Title
The Ozarks Elementary Curriculum Project
Abstract
The Ozarks Elementary Curriculum Project, sponsored by Southwest Missouri State University and funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, created a regional studies curriculum package designed for use in elementary schools throughout the Ozark highlands. Produced in the 1980s by a multidisciplinary team of educators, geographers, and an anthropologist, the curriculum package covers the physical geography, history, and cultural traditions of the region. The packet emphasizes multicultural education by systematically exploring ethnic diversity and developing an understanding of cultural adaptation.
