Visualizing and segmenting large volumetric data sets
Abstract
Volumetric data sets record a physical parameter at discrete points, called voxels, on a regular grid over a finite volume. A software environment that uses immersive virtual reality technology to let users immediately apply their expert knowledge to explore and visualize volumetric data sets is developed. Both visually and computationally immersing the user in the system's operation more directly integrates choices and the resulting consequences into the user's experience.
