Effects of a Diazinon Formulation on Unialgal Growth Rates and Phytoplankton Diversity
Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to determine the effects of diazinon formulation on freshwater unialgal growth rates and phytoplankton diversity. The study used Chlorella pyrenoidosa, Selenastrum capricornutum, and Synechococcus leopoliensis aseptic cultures from the University of Texas and diazinon 4E from the Ford Chemical Company. Results show that the inverse relationship between diazinon formulation concentrations and species diversity and algal growth rate.
