Inventory ARCHIVES
Abstract
A members of the center for engineering Logistics and Distribution (CELDi), an industry research center, has given some best ways to improve inventory record accuracy in retail supply chains. The measurement of inventory record is one of the best way to handle inventory record accuracy. Cycle counting is another effective industry proven methodology based on the recurring counting of sampled stock keeping units (SKUs). A variety of cycle counting methods can be adapted for use within an inventory control process. It is needed to identify inventory accuracy levels within departments and stores. A standard procedure has been developed to identify the most SKUs and departments that have consistently poor inventory record accuracy. The organization needs to recommend and explore industry best practices for ensuring inventory record accuracy. The improvement in inventory record accuracy can also be done by analysis the current records based on a simulation of the supply chain.
