Web based monitoring of machine tools for reliability
Abstract
This paper addresses an inexpensive Internet based approach for monitoring machine condition for reliability purposes. The maintenance personnel located at a remote site can access diagnostics information online and real-time and can suggest preventive maintenance actions before breakdowns occur. The secure sensor technology can efficiently transfer the collected data for analysis to a remote server. A data mining approach can be extremely useful for machine tool manufacturers to analyze vast amount of data collected. In addition to remote machine monitoring architecture proposed, appropriateness of different data mining techniques for machine reliability is investigated.
