Title

Creating Library Videos

Abstract

The Research and Instructional Services ( RI S) Unit of Meyer Library has long produced screen cast videos using Adobe Captivate, teaching key research and information literacy skills. Pursuant to key initiative number four of the librarywide key initiatives for calendar year 20 15 (Peters, 2015), RJS was now charged with creating 20 addition al instructional and promotional videos, so the librarians at Missouri State University created a task force to research ideas and best practices, and then create "live action" videos. The videos were to be 60-90 seconds long and showcase a library service or resource. Videos were both informational and promotional. This article chronicles the process, from research to completion. It is hoped this process will assist other libraries with creating their own "Library Minute" videos.
