Conservation officer role and responsibilities
Abstract
Conservation officers are law enforcement officers tasked with the enforcement of laws related to natural resources. In addition to their enforcement duties, conservation officers also participate in a variety of non-law enforcement activities such as hunter and boater education programs, educational programming for schools and civic organizations, landowner visits to discuss nuisance wildlife issues and wildlife management principles and public relations work. This study is one of the first to examine the extent to which conservation officers participate in these types of non-law enforcement activities.
