Introduction Setting the Naturecultural Stage
Abstract
This introduction establishes the scope and scale of the book Posthumanist Collaborations in Performance. The authors, drawing upon scholarship in performance studies and new materialist scholarship, propose “naturecultural performance” as a framework to explore and invent new ways of living in a more-than-human world. The book offers theoretical discussions and practical examples of naturecultural performances, with the hope of intervening on the pervasive sense of dissatisfaction and loneliness that characterizes the modern Western relationship with the rest of Being.
