Abstract
A vegetative study of the White River Balds Natural Area in the Henning State Forest, Taney County, was conducted during the field seasons of 1990 through 1992. Vocher specimens from this area were collected and deposited in the SMSU herbarium with the raw data. Species composition in four major communities on each of four balds were determined by establishment of 60 permanent nested circular plots in which both woody and herbaceous species were measured. Data was summarized so that community composition could be investigated. Statistical analyses were performed to demonstrate degree of similarity of the communities across the balds. The information produced by this project is to be the base data for a 20-year habitat management study by MIssouri Department of conservation.
