Abstract
This collection of poetry and fiction deals with how physical landscape and environment affect the human condition. The critical introduction cites much of the process and theory involved in the composition of these works, so that readers may come to a greater understanding of them and of the writer. Many of the poems are formal, following traditions of blank verse, the sonnet, and the villanelle. The fiction is composed largely within the range of contemporary literary realism with minimalist influences.
