Abstract

Intimations is a work of urban fantasy set in 1920s Houston. Vasily Bayramian is a Seer who often knows the future and is tormented by visions, forced to cover himself from head to toe in hopes of avoiding a constant assault of Sight. Vasily and his partner, Dashkov, work for OMEGA, an agency of nonhumans called Shadowbairn. They are sent to Houston find a rogue agent named Magorian. There, Vasily meets a human woman, Susan, with whom he prophesies he will have a daughter. Vasily becomes increasingly obsessed with finding Magorian, convinced that this agent will help him keep Susan and his future child safe. He also becomes increasingly convinced that Dashkov has betrayed him. As Vasily strives to accomplish his goals, he loses his grip on reality and on the things he cares most about.
