Abstract
UNDER THE CANOPY OF SMALL HOUSES is a collection of poems written during my educational career at Missouri State University. It has always been my aspiration to be able to showcase my work in a small collection that is representative of me, as an individual. The poems in this collection transition from being almost nonsensical to being deeply concerned with faith. Each poem represents my world in a unique way: through literature, place, motherhood, friendships, love, and faith. I hope that my poetry does not ground the individual but encourages him or her to take flight into the realm of the extraordinary.
