Abstract
A survey of the vascular flora of Piney Creek Wilderness within Barry and Stone Counties, Missouri, was made between May 1988 and the summer of 1989. An annotated checklist of 606 taxa representing 97 families, 332 genera, 104 tentative Barry County records, and 27 tentative Stone County records is included. Eight plant communities are identified and described based upon field observations. An effort is made to account for the occurrence of the flora within this area of southwestern Missouri in relation to the climate, topography, geology, soils, and past vegetational history. Some rare and endangered plant species also occur here.
