Abstract

This thesis documents the use of computers by college and university theatre departments for front-of-house management. The major source of information consisted of the results of a survey sent to educational theatre administrators in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska. These results were tabulated in an effort to define and explain trends in computer usage for the responding schools. Though most institutions use computers to some degree, it was found that usage rises in larger schools with heavier performance schedules who employ paid box office staff. Major obstacles to computer usage appear to be lack of money, computer expertise, and information.
