Abstract

The creation and subsequent revisions of playscripts within commercial venues are seldom recorded. Even rarer are chronicles of the same process at the academic level, which would benefit young playwrights. A case study of a script creation and revision was examined, using Song of Norma, by this writer, as the text. Revisions were made to the script up to and after a production was staged in the Spring 1997 semester. Through collaboration between the playwright and director the script underwent many revisions and exists in three separate versions. The problems, successes, and processes in making the script more streamlined and dramatic are recorded.
