Abstract
Writing, particularly creative writing, is an act of crafted expression which facilitates personal forward movement; Transitory Season is a creative thesis containing poetry and personal narratives which are a reflection of some of my creative works produced while being a graduate student at SMSU. Personal relationships and domestic life are themes quilted throughout each work, and the texts are stitched together by the representations of love and dirty laundry found within these pieces. Much of the poetry is contextually and structurally free verse utilizing formal techniques in an attempt to enhance the writing, ironically, writers that influence me most are those that have mastered closed forms. Contextually, the narratives are attempts to illustrate personal identity and my curiosity in self discovery through both the inner and outer realms.
