Abstract

I-25 @ Exit 128 is a coming-of-age story of Kevin, a 20-year-old high school dropout who washes dishes at a Chinese restaurant in the small, blue-collar town of Fountain, Colorado. The initial conflicts are Kevin losing his job and his mother asking him to move out and find his own place. The reader discovers by the second section, though, that these problems are only the surface. Kevin eventually moves to Montana, where he is forced to confront his emotions concerning the death of his little brother and his role in that death. While in Montana, Kevin also tackles the issue of his father leaving him when he was a child. In Section 3, we discover, along with Kevin, that his father isn't really his father at all.
