Abstract
Conflicts have been won or lost throughout the ages because of the use of private military companies and private arms dealers. Today's conflicts are no different, what is different is the speed and lethality in which the soldiers and weapons can be delivered and the rate at which they can kill. The private merchants who provide soldiers or weapons for hire are increasingly becoming more powerful than many state run militaries. This paper looks into the history and the future of these private services offered, and what should be done about it.
