Abstract
A survey of the aquatic plants of the Jack's Fork River was conducted. The time frame of this study was three years, from 1991 through 1993. An annotated plant list including 51 taxa representing 35 genera and 25 families was generated. Thirteen records for Shannon and Texas Counties are documented with voucher specimens. In an attempt to better understand or use the plant list, the following plant communities were defined, described and discussed on the basis of associated diagnostic plant species: (1) Sparganium Community; (2) Cardamine bulbosa-Veronica catenata var. glandulosa Community;(3) Heteranthera dubia-Potamogeton illinoensis Community; (4) Sagittaria Community; (5) Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum Community;(6) Nuphar lutea Community; (7) Eleocharis-Scirpus Community; (8) Eleocharis acicularis var. acicularis Community; (9) Justicia americana Community.
