Development of micro-XAFS: Applications to studies of single fluid inclusions
Abstract
We have for the first time successfully measured and analyzed RT micro-XAFS spectra from individual fluid inclusions in quartz. The dominant zinc complex in the aqueous fluid of the inclusions was determined to be ZnCl42-, having a ZnCl bond length of 2.33 Å. Our study demonstrates the great potential of micro-XAFS as a tool for investigations of heterogeneous materials.
