In Search of Authentic Argument

Abstract

This article focuses on professional development seminar held in 2016 where teachers worked to understand the way argument functions. Topics discussed include English professor James Baumlin led participants through activities on post-Aristotelian methods of argumentation, teachers reflected on the connection between argument and citizenship, professor James Sottile reminded participants of the scientific method and its use in creating arguments in science.
