Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compile a readers-theatre script and to tailor the production to fit the rules of the Missouri State High School Activities Association for the competitive event. The method for the study was to research theories of material selection and production for readers theatre using primarily Irene Coger and Melvin White's Readers Theatre Handbook and Judy Yordon's Roles of Interpretation; then to research the chosen theme, women of Northern Ireland using Elizabeth Shannon's I Am of Ireland as the primary source. The thesis presents the initial concepts with the changes that occurred during revision and rehearsal and the final draft of the script with its significance as a finished work. The result of the study shows that a compiled script may be one solution to the problems faced by high-school teachers when selecting a script for district speech competition.
